Yes, there definitely needs to be more precise and well-defined rules when it comes to these two AI tags. All of my images are edited and touched up (at least a little), but nowhere near enough to justify the assisted tag in my opinion. But, if I go by the current tag rules it does.
I have absolutely had to change the eye color of a couple of pics of mine, and no that is not enough for me to add the assisted tag.
I like the idea of having the two tags not be mutually exclusive, and you can combine them. Use both tags if the image is an edited AI pic, and only the assisted tag alone if you actually drew a significant portion of the image.
I don’t like the idea of a third tag just for a touched-up image.
The way I feel it could work play out too would be AI Generated being used for raw/unpolish pictures that have more clear oddities or anatomy problems typical of AI that a lot of people would not be too interested in (in fact this tag is hidden by the default filter). While AI assisted is used for more refined/finished pictures (And normally a refined AI picture implies editing to some degree so this would fit the current description for the tag)
This way it filter out the “bulk” of raw/lower quality generations but also allows more properly, polished works to stand out from those by not being automatically hidden right away.
Ideally, I think it should have a third tag called “Edited AI generation” or something like that for edited pictures and so leaving assisted for more mixed arts that have a fair amount of both AI and manual work.

Personally I would think AI generated is the base image concept. Thus is always the case to be. Assisted is an additional tag if edits are made. Thus the two are fliterable.
The only time assisted makes sense alone if its doing small edits somehow, like if it added feather to a image you did. Or you had it create a background.
I do see the tags being a bit blunt in description. But seems to be an oversight. Changed eye color? Now I can say its not generated? Plus it feels like its splitting the generated style people might search for out of the results cause I corrected an extra finger…

Well looking at the descriptions I guess assisted is the correct tag, and yeah those tags shouldn’t be used together. I guess that also means all of my images are assisted too. My personal opinion is if you can’t justify using your artist tag on an image instead of an editor tag, it’s not machine learning assisted.

The AI tags are a little bit confusing at first. According to description, Machine Generated tag is meant for images made “Entirely by AI”, so raw outputs. Machine assisted is meant for images edited or modified by a human (may it be small edits or full on re-draws)
So they should not go together but it seems like they do? I will have to figure out how that works exactly.
@Background Pony #7572
Well, I put it through the AI after adding the feathers so it kinda is (with some edits). I did used the machine assisted tag but it added machine generated as well automatically. (Unless I derped and added it accidentally)

They recently made an update to it with some new tools which is neat. So far, Form Lock seems like it can be quite useful in some situations and make for some easy edits (although it may screw up color a lot if trying to do OCs but that is fixable on editing)
@Background Pony #7572
Aw thanks you! i’m glad you like them and no problem ^^ i’m very much experimenting myself and seeing what does and does not work.
But is definitely trickier to do and require more work on photoshop/editing to force the OC characteristics out. Some may be easier than others to pull off. (the AI can really hate some specific details and attempts to change them at first opportunity it has)

Sadly it does not understand tickling beyond the laughing aspect of it. The feathers had to be added to it in photoshop. Still works out though x3
Though it was also used a few times in the generation process to help force some specific changes. That image is the “final” result of a generation chain.

Yeah that could be valid too. It is a bit blurry at the moment.

Probably has a cute laugh too.
The belly looks so soft.
Ohh that does make sense. Thanks for the info.
Oh, the NovelAI tag automatically adds machine learning generated. Machine learning assisted does not add the generated tag

I strongly disagree. This is AI generated, adding a few feathers is nowhere near enough to say it isn’t.
If you photoshopped the feathers, then this is no longer AI generated

Oh, thank you for explaining this! I should try learn more about the novelAI

It can work with OCs. In fact, my profile pic here is my OC made with it. https://imgur.com/a/Rr92rC7 (These were some of the first stuff I made too so they are a lil old)
Will it work only with such famous characters, as mane six? Or may it work with fan characters or even with OCs?
Yup. I have two more on the works. One with Twilight and one with Fluttershy. Hoping to release next soon.
Still, that awesome to see, how it was done by AI!

Mainly, no feathers nor face freckles plus a bit of color correction and a couple of tiny odd lines here and there I removed: https://i.imgur.com/DG3uJpc.png
One day the AIs will have robot bodies to tickle us for real.
