Better be VERY thick and insulated. Putting blankets on horses IRL to warm them up is often counter-productive because it just compresses their fur, which puffs up in cold conditions (tiny muscles, not growth, although that may happen in the long term) to insulate them. I think it is only recommended for ones with poor pelt condition, and/or ones that have been shaved shorter for various reasons.
