Wow, I did not mean to set that edit reason lmao.. stupid auto fill in on phone

Anyway.. if you make a preset and set it to make sure it doesn’t lock dimensions down, set frame rate to same as source, disable interlace detection, disable cropping and you can just click that preset every time you open, it’s tremendously better

I use Handbrake and encode with x265 to figure out bitrate and then encode with vp9 with ABR
Just set to “slower” or “veryslow” for best quality.. “slower” should be roughly “good” with ffmpeg, I think
Handbrake has all kinds of crap like interlace detection and cropping enabled by default.. and I could go on and on ..but it works and it’s a GUI program

What program do you recommend to encode at VP9? I’ve only ever used Xmedia Recode 3.4.5.0 since any other version is buggy as hell either for VP8 or VP9. (wrong filesize calculations, crappy quality or very slow VP9 encoding)

That same version claims it has VP9 support but MediaInfo says it’s actually VP8. It’s all terribly confusing.

Hopefully there’s a program with the same functionalities, better stability, more extensions supported and is up to date with codecs/drivers.
