An AI art Turing test of sorts—you don’t know which, or how many, pieces of the art above were made (almost) entirely with AI. Of the half dozen or so people I’ve given these tests to, so far, none have gotten a perfect score.
All images were generated by me from a txt2img base, and most had some iterative img2img/inpainting/manual guidance steps. Very small blemishes in AI images were removed in a minute or two with a smudge brush or color correction tool.

Only mistake is the third one, but I was honestly unsure of myself for that one as I was looking from my phone and only zoomed a bit as I wanted to see all pictures at once. So 9/10 !

Another limitation i see with the AI stuff is expressions. They all seem to have the same generic smile, or the same horny face if it’s a lewd pic.
I’ve not seen it pull off something like the grumpy expression in number 8. There’s definitely room for more variety there, I think.
But it’s definitely getting difficult to tell the difference at a glance, and to be fair, i think art is usually consumed at a glance; most people aren’t going to pore over minor details to find AI artifacts.

Nice. Yeah, it’s such a weird mix of local and global strengths and weaknesses with the AI, and I’ve yet to read a good explanation for why it is the way it is. I wonder what the AI images will look like a year from now?
Also, I’m salty about the microphone, because I fixed it in a final inpainting, but somehow I included the wrong version on the test :s

But then again, I kinda know what to look for. There’s usually some telltale weirdness AI does that a human artist wouldn’t. Like the microphone in number 6.
What I find interesting is that the AI often struggles with things like anatomy, limb placement and stuff. It’s like you gave the colouring and rendering skills of a fairly skilled artist to someone makes rookie mistakes with anatomy. It’s a weird dissonance.

60% accuracy here. For example, on #7 I assumed that the artist had left in some sketch lines on the eyes, and I completely missed that the cutie mark was inaccurate.

I started off strong but that’s because I can recognize Koviry’s art style on sight lol, I usually guessed human on the AI but always guessed human on the human ones. So I guess I’m too trusting of things being human when they’re maybe not haha

Yeah, at the moment it takes someone who knows at least a little bit what to look for. Every AI image has some sort of tell, though, and it seems that experienced artists have earned the best scores so far.
